Musical Reflections Thought for Today

“…the time is fast approaching when Man will select his music with the same intelligent care and knowledge he now uses to select his food. When that time comes, music will become a principal source of healing for many individual and social ills, and human evolution will be tremendously accelerated.”

Corinne Helene

“Seek out a wise player on a harp: and it shall come to pass…that he shall play with his hand and thou shalt be well.”

I Samuel 16:16

“Music is the soundtrack of your life.”

Dick Clark

“Through vibration, harmony, tone, melody and meaning, music stimulates within us direct experience of expanded reality.”

Barbara Marx Hubbard

“The human being is essentially sound, vibrations, and melody.…”

Holger Kalweit

“Music is the answer to the mystery of life; it is the most profound of all the arts; it expresses the deepest thoughts of life and being; a simple language which nonetheless cannot be translated.”

Arthur Schopenhauer

“Music has been called the speech of angels.”

Charles Kingsley

“Surrounded by the right sounds, we all can be invigorated, energized, and balanced. It has been demonstrated clinically that music adds to our general health and well-being.”

John Diamond

“Music is God’s best gift to [humans], the only art of heaven given to earth, the only art of earth that we take to heaven.”

Charles W. Landon

“Music speaks straight to our hearts and spirits, to the very core and root of our souls.”

Charles Kingsley

“Music is your own experience, your thoughts, your wisdom. If you don’t live it, it won’t come out your horn.”

Charlie Parker

“Music is an extremely important instrument of the Divine.”

Hal A. Lingerman

“Music touches our innermost being and in that way produces new life, a life that gives exaltation to the whole being, raising it to that perfection in which lies the fulfillment of man’s life.”

Hazrat Inayat Khan

“Music is an art that expresses the inexpressible.”

Charles Munch

“David took a harp, and played with his hand: and Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.”

1 Samuel 16:23

“The more we cultivate great music in our lives, the greater will be our attunement to unlimited sources of the Creator’s power and direction.”

Hal A. Lingerman

“I am Music….Even before life began upon this earth, I was here—in the winds and the waves….And when Man came, I at once became the most delicate, most subtle, and most powerful medium for the expression of Man’s emotions….For I speak to all men, in a language that all understand….I am the food of love. I have taught men gentleness and peace. I comfort the lonely. I am a necessary luxury to all men.”

Anonymous

“Art is more than important—it is central to how we see ourselves, what we believe about ourselves, and how we present ourselves to each other.”
