Did you see the Oscars in mid-March? There’s always a lot of focus on the dresses/costumes. The one that stood out to me on the red carpet was a beautiful light blue billowy dress worn by a 12-year-old girl. Later in the show, she came on stage to accept an Oscar for the documentary short titled, “The Last Repair Shop.” As I listened to them describe the film, I thought I must see this movie. When friends posted the YouTube link on their Facebook, I couldn’t wait to view it!
It is beautifully done and is such a wonderful tribute to music education, funding and empowerment of children through music. Take 40 minutes to watch it! If you are a musician who isn’t currently playing your instrument, you may be motivated and energized to start again! And nevertheless, if you are a musician or not, you’ll be glad you watched … guaranteed!
