Now, when I play for hospital and hospice patients, I play my pedal harp on Zoom.
I recently had a special experience with one of my dear friends who entered hospice, dying of leukemia. She and I had worked together for 20+ years – she did Healing Touch while I did harp therapy at the hospital and hospice bedside. One of the Healing Touch techniques while I played is called chakra spread; together, we did hundreds of these.
I thought it would be really meaningful if a chakra spread could be “orchestrated” as my friend was dying. A day before she died, one of her Healing Touch friends went to see her and she “dialed me in” on Zoom to play during this special session. It was a magical moment to share with my dear friend.
The next day, one of her round-the-clock caregivers called at 2:15 p.m. CT and we talked about how my friend was doing. I played for her until 3:00 and got off Zoom. Later, the caregiver called to tell me at 3:30 her breathing changed significantly and by 4 o’clock, she took her last breath. I feel like the harp helped her ascend.
Two beautiful sacred experiences and I feel so blessed to have had these last moments with my dear friend.
