I have been reflecting on harp music for guided meditations, specifically how I got started playing the harp for these special meditations.

It all began when I first played the harp in the hospital setting. The chaplain I worked with also led a Sunday morning worship service for anyone in the hospital to attend; she asked me to attend so that I could lead a few hymns to sing along. While singing as I play is not my favorite thing, I went along with it to see where this experience and relationship would lead. After playing a couple hymns, then she said, “Now we’re going to do a short meditation – Tami, maybe you could play with us.” Well, it was unplanned, totally spontaneous and somehow, I just knew what to play/do! As I gained experience, I realized I was listening to her voice/words and matching the music.

Recently, I’ve been playing a lot for guided meditations with the Peace on Earth by 2030 Game. At the bottom of this link https://peacegame.earth/empowerment, you’ll see the “Empowerment Frequency Meditation.” This is an example of one of the seven frequency meditations with harp accompaniment. It’s an example of listening to David Gershon’s voice and content, then matching the music to the frequency of the guided meditation.

From this experience of playing along with guided meditations, I believe the next step is storytelling using the harp. As I explore and progress doing this, I’ll keep you posted!
